Department of Physics

About the Department- The Department of Physics at Sonitpur Polytechnic has been an integral part of the institute since its inception, providing support for the three-year Diploma in Engineering program. Since 2017, the department has been training students of Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering by building a strong foundation in physics concepts relevant to engineering. Each semester, around 66 students from each of the three branches are taught. At present, the department offers courses for the 1st and 2nd semesters of the three-year diploma program. It also has a well-equipped laboratory with all the required experimental set-ups and modern instruments.

Mission of the department-

1. To impart quality education in Physics required for building a solid foundation for solving engineering problems of all branches.
2. To foster a constructive learning environment that nurtures logical and innovative thinking, while inspiring young minds to discover their talents through training in both theoretical and practical aspects of physics using dedicated teaching and innovative instructional methods.
3. To train students in the use of basic physics instruments and provide them with hands-on laboratory experience through rigorous experiments, thereby helping them to better understand advanced engineering problems.

Vision of the department- The Department of Physics aims to inspire excellence by strengthening students’ knowledge in science and engineering and fostering innovation through the application of physics concepts.
